FRENCH FLIER KILLED
SHOT DOWN IN AFRICA AIR BATTLE ALLEGED 33 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 18. A Vichv Admiralty communique says: “An air battle occurred over French West Africa in which a French naval pilot, Captain Dailliere, of the Dakar air base, was killed. Unconfirmed reports say that he was shot down on a reconnaissance flight over the West African coast, southward of Dakar, in the direction of Freetown. The Fighting French announce that Fighting French planes from central African bases attacked a lorry convoy travelling across Sezzan, which is a district ih southern Libya, 200 miles north of Chad territory.
