ATTACKS MAINTAINED
CHINESE IN CHEKIANG JAP. SUPPLIES DISRUPTED (British Official Wireless.) (11 a.m.) RUGBY, Oct. 15. For the last 75 days, stated a Chinese authority in London, the Chinese in the Chekiang-Kiangsi area have been attacking the towns of Lanchi and Wuyei, both north-west of the key city of Kinhwa, which is still in S Japanese hands. During the past fortnight the Chinese have concentrated on disrupting Japanese communications between Kinhwa and Shanghai, with the object of preventing supplies from arriving from Hangchow and Shanghai, and have destroyed several bridges on the Kinhwa-Lanchi highway. The Japanese are still firmly entrenched in Kinhwa, but the Chinese mopping-up operations proceed incessantly. Fighting has occurred in north China, particularly the Suiyuan area, but there is still no indication of the next Japanese move in the Chinese war theatre.
