Advance Loan Subscriptions
Substantial advance subscriptions for the second Liberty Loan were received in Gisborne prior to Monday, when the loan was officially launched. The hon. secretary of the Gisborne committee, Mr. J. A. Macleod, stated to-day that advance subscriptions in Gisborne totalled £23,850. Transport Restrictions Stock and wool transport restrictions are to come into force in the Gisborne district on - Monday, after , which stock may not be transported by lorry except under certain circumstances. No cattle, except bulls i'rbm a fair or the nearest railway station, may be lorried, .while the decisions do riot materially affect rams, pigs or bobby calves, but definite limits are put on the lorrying bf fat lambs, fat sheep and store lambs. The decisions in respect to live stock will operate during November, December'and January. Only full loads of wool may be lorried, and all wool from Te Karaka northwards must be taken to the nearest rail loading place, but at the end of the season part leads mav be taken with the consent of the Poverty Bay Transport Control Committee,
