SHEEP PRICES LOWER WESTFIELD MARKET (P.A.) . AUCKLAND, this day. At the Westfield stock sale yesterday there was a keen and firm demand for a full entry of ox beef. Late rates obtained throughout. An average entry of cows and heifers sold steadily and quotations remained on a par with last week. Extra choice ox made £2 2s per 1001 b.; choice and prime, £1 Ills to £2 Is; secondary and plain, £1 15s to £1 17s; extra prime young cow and heifer, £1 14s to £1 18s; choice and prime, £1 10s to £1 12s; ordinary cow beef, £1 6s to £1 Bs. Heavy prime steers made £l6 to £l7 Bs; lighter. £l4 10s to £ls 10s; light, £l2 10s to £l3 10s; small and unfinished, £lO to £l2; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £ll to £l2 12s 6d; heavy, £9 to £10; lighter, £7 10s to £8 10s; light, £5 10s to £6 10s. There was u big yarding of sheep, and although bidding was steady, values were lower than last week. Extra heavy prime wethers, woolly, made £2 to £2 Gs 3d; shorn, £1 13s to £1 14s; heavy, woolly, £2 to £2 3s; shorn, £1 11s to £l. 12s; medium, woolly, £1 17s to £1 18s Gd ; shorn, £1 8s 6d lo £1 10s; light and prime, woolly, £1 13s to £1 IBs 6d; shorn, £1 4s to £1 7s; plain and unfinished, woolly, 18s 6d to £1 12s: shorn. £1 Is to £1 3s; extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes, woolly, £1 Gs to £1 10s; shorn, AT to £1 2s 9d; heavy, woolly, £1 2s to i’l 3s 6d: shorn, lGs to 18s; lighter, woolly, 18s to £1; shorn, 12s Gd to IBs 6d; plain and aged, woolly, IBs to 17s; shorn, 10s to IBs 6d. An increased yarding of lambs sold at keen late rates. There was a good yarding of calves. Bidding was keen for all prime runners-and vealers; but values generally were slightly easier. Runners made £6 to £11; heavy vealers, £7 10s to £8 1.1 s; medium, £GFBs to £7 ss; light, £5 :5s to £6; small, £4 Bd. to .fB; unfinished and bucket fed, £1 lo £2 ids; bobby and rough, 3s to £1 is. There was an average entry of pigs. Competition was steady throughout and values for all classes were about equal' to last week. Choppers made £1 2s to £3; heavy baconers, £4 9s. to £4 14s; medium, £4 Is to £4 4s; light, £3 14s to £3 19s; heavy porkers, £3 14s to £4; medium, £3 6s to £8 10s; light, £2 16s to £3; small and unfinished, £2 10s to £2 15s; stores, £2 6s to £2 12s; slips, £1 16s to £2 6s; weaners, £1 12s to £1 17s.
