NEW PATROL VESSEL
AUCKLAND LAUNCHING (P.A.) AUCKLAND, this day. Another Fairmile patrol vessel for the New Zealand Navy was launched to-day from the boatyard of Charles Bailey and Sons two weeks after the launching of the first vessel built in Auckland. The job of this trim, aggressive looking craft will'be to hunt enemy submarines. A symbol of the ability of New Zealand craftsmen to build fighting ships, the keel of a third such vessel is about to be laid. A benedictory address was given by the Rev. Jasper Calder, M.8.E.. two verses of the hymn “Eternal Father” sung, and Technical College trumpeters sounded the “Reveille.” Mrs. W. F'. Callum. wife' of the chairman of directors of the firm which built the ship, broke the traditional bottle of wine, and the vessel slid into the sparkling waters ready for duty.
