BIDS BEING RECEIVED FURTHER DONATIONS Bids are being taken for the Churchill Book, which is being auctioned for patriotic purposes, and in the meantime donations to the Ghurchill Auctions scheme are still being received by the convener for Gisborne. Mr. D. G. DyetY Among the most recent gifts is a •ljd piece dated 1843 given by an anonymous donor. Mrs. Parry, Gisborne, has given a copy of the Balkan News dated February 22. 1916, at a time when the greater part' of the Balkans were under German and Austrian domination during the last war. while some other interesting literature has come from the sartle donor. Mrs. P. H. King, Gisborne, has given' a collection of coins, including twopenny and' four-penny pieces, as well as some • ojd foreign coins and publications issued during the 19? G strike in England. A book, “Domestic Medicine,” published in 1803, rs given by Mr. E. M. Wykes, Waingake, who states that it has been in his family for' 140 years and that he will enter a bid of' £5 for it. Mr. Bellerby has donated- five volumes of “Evelyn’s Memoirs,” published in 1827. The first of the auctions is to be held in Dunedin on October 21, and from jo-morrow bids for the Churchill Book, will be broadcast from the local radio stations shortly after 7 p.m. Other radio auctions are to be held in Auckland and Wellington, and the result of the auction for' the Churchill Book will be announced at the conclusion of the Wellington sale on November 5.
