SUGAR RATIONING

AUSTRALIAN PEOPLE 2LB A HEAD FORTNIGHTLY (2 p.m.) . SYDNEY. Aug. 31. From to-day every person in Australia will be rationed to 21b. of sugar a fortnight. The object of the rationing is stated to be .to enable supplies, to be sent to .the Allies abroad and reserves built up here. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. Curtin, states that the rationing will not last longer than is necessary. The ration is regarded as liberal.
