PARACHUTE JUMP
TRAINEE PILOT’S ESCAPE MISHAP WITH PLANE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. An airman pilot under training at a Royal New Zealand Air Force station in the South Island escaped by parachute when his aircraft got into difficulties near the aerodrome about noon yesterday. He was engaged in solo flying practice and jumped from a height of about 2000 ft., escaping with a sprained ankle.
