APPEAL BOARD
GISBORNE DECISIONS ' A sitting of the Gisborne Armed Forces Appeal Board was held to-day and the first four cases heard were appeals against general service. With Mr. F. R. Ball as chairman were Messrs. J. E. Benson and C. E. Bickford. The Director of National Service appealed for N. R. Law, sheepfarmer. —The board reserved its decision. An appeal by Humphrey's Cabinet Works against the general service of L. H. Paine, French polisher, was adjourned for review on October 31. A sine die adjournment, with service in the Home Guard as an alternative, was recommended in an appeal by the Tolaga Bay Co-operative Dairy Company, for A. J. Morshead, first .assistant. L. J. Jackson, plasterer, appealed on his own behalf against overseas service and the board ruled that he be not liable in the meantime, but the position to be reviewable at any time.
