Regent.—Proving that the appeal of :i lender and genuine romance strikes as much of a responsive chord as it ever did with notion ■ picture “fans,” Metro-Goldwyn-Majfer’s "Smilin' Through,” starring Jeanette MacDonald and Brian Aherne, with Gene Raymond, opened yesterday at the Regent Theatre, to an enthusiastic audience. «iue ballads are interpreted by Mibs MacDonald, who, photographed in Technicolour in the romantic setting of old England, was never seen to better advantage.
