WESTMINSTER ABBEY

NO IRREPARABLE DAMAGE

LONDON, Nov. 24

_ The Dean of Westminster, addressing the Historical and Literary Circle of the Devonshire Club, said that; although the Abbey had suffered fairly extensively from air raids, none of the damage was irreparable. The most serious’ loss was the root of the’ lantern. If he had been asked what part* of the Abbey they could spare without loss of. history he would have said the roof of the lantern. It was late work done in 1870, and very bad work at that. It could easily be replaced.
