CONFIDENCE VOICED

JAP. CABINET CHIEF REFUSAL TO RESIGN (Reed. Dec. 29, 2.40 p.m.) TOKIO, Dec. 28. The Prime Minister of Japan, General Abe, to-day declared that the Cabinet did not intend to resign. It would not be troubled by the “manoeuvres of professional politicians.” The Tokio correspondent of the United Press of America reported on Wednesday that the Japanese Prime Minister, General Abe, was to receive a no-confidence petition signed by 240 members of the House of Representatives, which numbers 4GG members, declaring that the Government’s programme is unsatisfactory and blaming the Cabinet for the recent shortage of rice and fuel and the failure to regulate prices in the interests of the people. The Japanese Parliament assembles on January 20 after the tjeiv year recess.
