LOSSES OF SHIPS
VERSION FROM BERLIN LONDON CONNECTION (Reed. Dec. 30, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 29. An official statement issued in Berlin says that enemy and neutral merchantman losses during the war total 279 vessels, with a total tonnage of 1,039,000 tons, while Germany has lost 18 ships totalling 120,000 tons, of which only one was sunk by the enemy. It is also stated: “After the sinking of the Graf von Spec numerous contributions towards the cost oi another have been received by the High Command from home and abroad.
Replying to the Berlin claims it if authoritatively stated in London that the shipping sinkings up to December 27 were: British, 111 ships, totalling 422,000 tons, French, '.t ships totalling 50,000 tons; Polish, one ship of 14,000 tens; neutral countries, 81 ships ships totalling 139,000 tons. Also 20 ships totalling 139.000 tons Also 20 German ships, totalling 89,000 tons were captured.
