THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General situation: An anti-cylone extends oil to New Zealand from the west. Forecast: Fresh westerlies in the faxsouth,, elsewhere light to moderate and variable, with sea breezes . on the coast. Seas: In New Zealand waters, slight or moderate.. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds .and slight seas in the northern portion, freshening north-westerlies and rising seas in the southern portion. Weather: For the most part fair to fine and warm, but with some scattered rains developing later in the far south-west and south. To-ilay’s North Island Report Good barometer readings and warm 'temperatures were general over the east coast of the North Island to-day, the highest thermometer reading being 70 degrees at Tauranga. and Auckland, Opotiki, Gisborne and Castlepoint having G 5 degrees at 9 a.m. Napier, reporting 60 degrees, was slightly cooler than Wellington. Westerly and south-westerly breezes, of little force, were reported from most stations, and blue skies were fairly general, with overcast conditions at Cape Maria Van Diemen and a drizzle at Auckland.
