AUSTRALIAN INCOMES
1402 OVER £SOOO A YEAR SYDNEY. Dec. 13. There are 1402 persons in Australia with incomes of more than £SOOO a year, according to figures for last year's income tax assessment, which are given in the annual report of the Commonwealth Commissioner of Taxation. Mr. L. S. Jackson. Of these 88 persons derived their incomes exclusively from personal exertion. The total number of Federal taxpayers in the Commonwealth in the year 1937-38 was 290,224, and thentotal incomes amounted to £129,608,303. There were 875 taxpayers with incomes between £4OOO and £SOOO. 1821 with incomes between £3OOO and £4OOO, and 4802 with incomes between £2OOO and £3OOO.
