TAUPATA REFLOATED

PROCEEDING TO PICTON (Per Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The a'gents of the Anchor Steam Ship Company have received notice that the motor ship Taupata, which went ashore in Tory Channel, Queen Charlotte Sound, this morning, has been floated off. The vessel is proceeding to Picton. Telephonic information from Te Awhaiti indicates that the Taupata was refloated at high tide at 10 o’clock this morning. It is understood that the vessel put bfcck to Picton but contact cannot be established with her. She is apparently making slow progress as she was not sighted at 1.30 from Ficton, where the agents refuse to divulge Information. It is gathered that the Taupata struck a submerged rock, known as Wiki Rock off the shore from the whaling station in the early hours oi the morning. The Picton harbour master left for the scene and it is believed that lie is aboard the Taupata.
