JAPAN’S DIFFICULTIES TEST OF CONFIDENCE POSSIBLE NEXT MONTH STRONG OPPOSITION (Eire. Tel. Copyright—United Press iissn.) (Reed. Dec. 28, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 27. The Tokio correspondent of the United Press of America says that the Japanese Prime Minister, General Abe, will receive to-day a no-con-fidence petition signed by 240 members of the House of Representatives, which numbers 466 members, declaring that the Government’s programme it unsatisfactory and blaming the. Cabinet for the recent shortages of rice and fuel and the failure to regulate prices in the interests of the people.
The Japanese Parliament reassembles on January 20 after the iew year recess.
General Abe’s associates declare that they will try to hold the Cabinet together in face of the attacks expected. believing that the situation is not serious, ,but the party leaders assert that dissatisfaction is spreading and the Government’s resignation may be expected. Neutral observers believe that the Opposition groups are at present not unified
