NAZI FANTASY
STATEMENT DISTORTED From the Nazi Wesdeutscher Beobaehter comes an example of the deliberate distortion of news often alleged against 'British newspapers and the 8.8. C. by Nazi propaganda, states the London Times. Thick headlines across three columns run as follows: “War-mongers Drunk with Blood; Cynical Admission by ‘The Times’; French Generation of To-day to be Sacrificed tb Ensure a Better Life for England.” The special correspondent of the newspaper at The Hague quotes in the article printed underneath these misleading headlines the following sentence from The Times: “The present generation is determined to sacrifice itself in order to ensure for its posterity a better life.” He goes on to say that this sentence needs only the addition of two words to show what the statesmen of London are really thinking. This addition was promptly made in the headlines quoted above.
