HONEYMOON DELAYED
’GROOM CHASES CLERGY REGISTER NOT SIGNED LONDON. Nov. 1. The Archdeacon of Cardigan, Canon D. W. Thomas, was chased 10 miles in a car after lie had officiated at the wedding at Swindon of his son, Alfred Noyes Thomas, a London journalist. The archdeacon had forgotten to sign the marriage register. He had left after the ceremony with his wife to motor home, while the bridegroom and his bride went to the bride’s parents’ home in Swindon. Some of the guests were still at the hotei in which the reception had been held when a messenger arrived from the church to point out the archdeacon’s omission. The police were asked to try to stop the archdeacon’s car and send him back to Swindon. Then the bridegroom left his bride and set off by car to overtake his father. After a 10-mile chase he was able io bring him back to sign the register. This completed, the couple started on their delayed honeymoon.
