Last Night's Forecast General Situation: The depression over the centre of the Dominion is moving very slowly eastward. Forecast: .Winds between south and west prevailing, strong in some exposed positions but moderating later, otherwise moderate to fresh in force. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rough about Cook Strait and between Cape Kidnappers and Banks Peninsula, rather rough north of Farewell Spit, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly winds, rather rough seas. Weather: Dull in eastern areas between East Cape and Banks Peninsula with intermittent rain but gradually improving, a few Showers also in the far north, but otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures: Cool to moderate. To-day's North Island Report The barometric pressure on the Fast Coast showed a sharp rise overnight and the pressure at Gisborne a. f) a.m. had reached an average level. Cold temperatures were general, the highest being 6(5 degrees at Tauranga, while other readings were: Cape Maria Van Diemen, 54 degrees; Auckland and Opotiki, 63, East Cape, 62; Gisborne, fjß; Napier. 56; Wellington, 54. Fresh southerly winds prevailed all along the const and light rain was experienced at many points during the night.
