There is a possibility of four weLknown New Zealand athletes attacking the world four-mile relay at Masterton in February. They are V. P. Boot, C. H. Matthews, W. A. C. Pullar and T. Allen. The existing record of 17 min. 16 l-ssec was established in 1937 by an American team. This is an average of 4min. 19sec per man. Boot and Pullar have both beaten this time, while Allan has run 4min. 20sec. Matthews is the British Empire champion over three miles and six miles and he holds the New Zealand record for two miles at 9min. 14 3-ssec.
