DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

A number of articles, including jewellery, a suit of clothes, a Christmas cake, and a child’s money-box, were stolen by an intruder who broke into a house in Mangateretere, near Hastings, in broad daylight on Sunday while the occupants were away at a picnic. Dickson, returned home he noticed that the gauze fireproof covering over one of the windows had been cut, and a search revealed the loss of articles which the intruder apparently had bundled into a tablecloth before decamping.
