TE PUKE STOCK SALE PIG RATES ADVANCE Late rates for cattle were fully maintained at the Te Puke stock sale last week, and a good clearance was effected. Baconers and buttermilk pigs sold under keen competition and prices advanced slightly on recent quotations. The following is a summary of prices:— Cattle. —Light fat cows and heifers. £4 19s to £5 11s; fresh conditioned. £3 18s to £4 9s; boner cows, £2 to £3 12s; poor conditioned, £1 5s to £1 10s; 3-year Shorthorn steers, £9 Is; 2-year steers, £2 16s to £3 15s; 2year Friesian heifers (r.w.b.). £3 3s to £5. Pigs.—Heavy chopper, £3 3s; light 27s to 38s; heavy baconers, £3 15s to £3 19s; medium weight, £3 10s to £3 14s; light. £3 3s to £3 8s; large good quality buttermilk pigs, £2 15s to £3 2s; smaller, £2 10s to £3 13s; large stores, £2; slips, 28s; weaners, 16s 1 o 235.
