DAVIS CUP MATCHES
Davis Cup competition will be suspended for the period of the war, according to the president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia. Sir Norman Brookes. “The American tennis officials are fine sportsmen,” said Sir Norman. “It is not their way to embarrass a country at war. You can say that I have assurances from tlie right American quarter that there Will be no challenge as far as the United States is concerned. It was made very clear to me that the Americans deeply appreciated the fact that members of our Davis Cup team are enlisted militiamen.”
