HOLIDAY BOWLS
ONE-DAY TOURNEY POVERTY BAY GREEN A one-day tournament organised on the Poverty Bay green was the only bowling fixture in progress in Gisborne to-day. Twenty-four rinks, including two teams from Tolaga Bay, participated. Several games in the first two rounds were drawn and in order not to delay the competition the play-ofl' was held over until later in the day. Early results were: — A Section ■First Round.—Tempest 14 v. Hartley 7: Wootton 20 v. Taylor ill; Beckett 8 v. Gardner 7; Salmon 12 v. Whiting 11. Second Round.—Whiting 15 v. Terri-; pest G; Beckett 13 v. Taylor G; Wootton 12 v, Salmon 9. It Section First Round.—McGregor 18 v. Blackburn 10: Hodgson 16 v. Swan 4; Morrison 14 v. Bayliss 7: Slight 13 v. Walt 7. Second Round. —Morrison 12 v. Watt 8: Bayliss 14 v. McGregor 4; Slight 14 v. Hodgson 9; Swan 24 v. Blackburn nil. C Section First Round.—Hopkinson 13 v. Ross 8; Atkinson 11 v. McKenzie 10. Second Round.—-Williams 10 v. McKenzie 8; Hopkinson 1:1 v. Atkinson 10; Holland ill v. Ross 8; Lougher 11 v. Somervell 9.
