THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General Situation. —The anticyclone to the north has continued to lose its intensity and a series of weak depressions has been passing in the south. ■ Forecast.—Winds between northwest and south-west predominating, but with a more definite south-wes-terly change advancing from the south tc-morrow. Fresh in force about and south of Cook Strait, but light to moderate in the north. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough in Cook and Foveaux Straits and south of Farewell Spit, elsewhere slight or moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea west to south-west winds prevailing, light to moderate in the northern portion, will light seas: fresh to strong in the southern portion with rough seas. Weather changeable in the western and southern areas of the South Island, with occasional rain: elsewhere mainly fair to fine but with a few scattered light showers in the North Island and showers extending up the east coast of the South Island, with the southerly change. Temperatures warm in the north, but cooler in the south. Midday Forecast General Situation: The last of the series of westerly depressions now lies across the centre of the Dominion. Forecast: South-west to southerly winds predominating and later freshening. Weather: Becoming changeable with occasional rain. Temperatures: Cooler. Seas: Moderate.
