PASTOR USMAR’S POST SUCCESSOR APPOINTED The appointment of Pastor N. T. Haig, Dunedin, has been made to -fill the vacancy in the Church of Christ charge in Gisborne caused by the resignation of Pastor L. R. Usmar. who has accepted the .position oJ. general secretary to the church’s, home mission committee and general executive.
A call was sent to Mr. Ilaig following a meeting of the Gisborne church lust Wednesday, and on Saturday a communication was received from Mr. Haig accepting the charge offered him.
Educated in Christchurch, Mr. Haig has studied since at the Church ol Christ Theological College at Glen Leith, Dunedin, and is a graduate ol the college. During the past year lie was studying at Otago University. At present he is minister of ' the Soutii Dunedin church.
Mr. 'Haig will be coining to Gisborne with high recommendations of preachers with whom lie has been associated. He is due to commence his ministry here on the first Sunday after Easter, March 31, six weeks after Mr. IJsmar’s ‘departure from Gisborne, which has been fixed for February 20. Mr. Haig is single, but contemplates marriage before coming to Gisborne. His fiancee also lias studied at the theological college.
