Heroic, one of the greatest racehorses ever foaled in Australasia, and the most successful Australian-bred stallion ever known, broke his leg at the Growee Stud yesterday and was destroyed. Heroic headed the list of winning sires for Australasia for the last seven years, and his progeny thus far have won 853 races worth £262,187. Heroic was by Valais from Chersonese and himself winner of £53,213 in stakes. Among his progeny racing to-day are Ajax, Hua and Tc Hero.
