CHRISTMAS RUSH
POST OFFICE BUSINESS HEAVY DELIVERIES The Gisborne Post Office staff, and especially the mail-room and counter officials, have experienced the usual rush of business characteristic of Christmas week, and have risen to the occasion most successfully Courtesy and dispatch have marked the dealings of staff members with the public "over the counter, and sorters and postmen have done their part well in keeping abreast of the rush.
The flow of Christmas business set in with a vengeance last Saturday, and has not slackened since; on the contrary, it has increased steadily, and yesterday and to-day have been exceedingly heavy for the staff members. Inward mails have been unusually heavy, and since Tuesday the .local deliveries have been exceptionally numerous.
Counter-staff reinforcements and a determined effort by the background workers have made it possible to avoid any congestion, and all concerned have had the satisfaction of seeing the current business cleared up from day to day.
