Power for Kaikohe

Power was officially switched on in Kaikohe on Wednesday evening. Mr. W. Knudsen, chairman of the Kaikohe Town Board, turned on the street lights before a gathering of between 400 and 500 people.

Gifts For Soldiers A successful “bring and buy” was held in Gisborne to-day by the Hoko-whitu-a-tu Maori Ladies’ Central Committee in aid of funds to provide gifts for soldiers on active service. The stall, which was located at a recently vacated shop at the corner of Stout and Fitzherbert streets, was well stocked and brisk business was done throughout the day. The sum of £2O had been realised by 2 o’clock.
