Mr. F. Wright, musical supervisor for the London County Council, who is to adjudicate at the Centennial Band Contest in Wellington in February, will arrive at Wellington towards the end of January. Judge R. N. Jones, Eastbourne, Wellington, arrived at Gisborne last evening accompanied by Mrs. Jones and her niece, Miss Patricia Young, to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Jones. Stout street. Miss Joyce Jones also arrived from Wellington to spend a short holiday in GisborneThe impending departure of Major A. S. Muir, vice-president of the Gisborne Returned Soldiers’ Association, to take up an appointment in the transport section of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, was the occasion of a gathering of executive members of the association last evening, when' Major Muir was made the recipient of a memento of his re-entry into military service. Colonel R. F. Gambrill, president of the association, congratulated the departing member on the opportunity of serving his country again, and referred to the personal sacrifices which acceptance of the appointment had entailed- for Major Muir. The latter expressed his deep appreciation of the goodwill extended to him.
