THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General situation: An anti-cyclone -covers the New Zealand area, but pressure is falling in the south. Forecast: Moderate to fresh northwesterlies prevailing from Cook Strait southwards, elsewhere light to moderate and variable. Seas: In New Zealand waters, moderate to rather rough about Cook Strait and south of Cape Egmont; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: North-westerly winds, light in the northern portion, with slight seas; moderate to strong in the southern portion, with rather rough seas. Weather: Continuing fair to line and warm generally, except on the west coast of the South Island, where scattered rain is likely. To-day’s North Island Report

There was intermittent drizzle at "Wellington, but elsewhere the weather was line, with blue skies at many ooints. 171 or the second day in succession the 9 a.m. thermometer readings snowed Gisoorne as die warmest spot on the east coast. The readings were: Gisborne, 75 degrees; Tauranga, Onotiki and Castlopoint, 72; Napier and Cape Palliser, 70: Auckland, 85; Wellington, 82. Light wmds were general, with a southerly breeze at Cape Maria van Diemen and Tiritiri, while northerlies predominated from Tauranga southwards. The sea was rough at Wellington, but elsewhere smooth.
