AMATEUR ATHLETICS
THE GISBORNE CLUB PROGRAMME APPROVED TEAM FOR NUHAKA It was indicated at the weekly meeting of the committee of t'Se Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club last evening that a strong team representative of the club would be competing at the Boxing Day sports being conducted by the Nuhaka sports club. The secretary of the Gisborne club. Mr. J. Tangncy, reported that the following members would probably be making the visit to Nuhaka: T. McGuffie, B. Quinn, A. Kane, J. Cleary, R. McGregor, R. Huxtable. and C. Parkinson, the Misses T. Lloyd, M. Lloyd. M. Hepburn, and P. Cleary. Mr. McGuffie was appointed as manager of the team and it was reported that Mrs. Cleary would travel as chaperon with the lady athletes. It was decided that the party would leave the club rooms at 9 a.m. on the day of the sports. The high jump of lift 12in performed by L. Grey at Tuesday evening’s sports meeting was passed as a Poverty Bay record. It was decided to finalise the gift competition which has been in progress for some weeks and it was requested that all subscriptions he returned by January 5 The following programme was approved for the next club night, January 9: —100yds ladies’ handicap, second" distance, Norma Wilson Cup, 50 yds ladies’ handicap, 75yds senior men’s handicap, 100yds junion men’s handicap, 440yds handicap, second distance, Martin Aislabie Cup, one mile flat handicap, pole vault handicap. shot put handicap, ladies’ hop-step-and-jump handicap, 120yds hurdles handicap, one mile and a half cycle handicap, half mile cycle handicap.
