Riders exempted from complying with Rule 224 (a) Rules of Racing. Distance, 1 mile. Nomination 20/-, Acceptance 20/-. 2. HAUITI DISTRICT HANDICAP, of £65; second horse to receive £lO. and third horse £5 from the stake. Winner of race of any description at time of starting barred. The owner must have resided in the district from 15th November, 1939, and the horse must have been owned and trained and kept within the district from the same date unless by special permit. The district comprises the whole of the Uawa, Waiapu, Matakaoa and Wairoa Counties and that portion of the Cook County north of the Turihaua River. Minimum weight 7st, 71b. Distance, 5 furlongs. Entries by telegram must be confirmed in writing at the earliest moment. The Committee reserve the right to alter the order of the events on this Programme at any time prior to the date of the meeting. RULE 243: —(1) By the entering of a horse for any race, every person having or subsequently acquiring an interest in such horse shall be deemed thereby to undertake, neither directly nor indirectly, to make any wager with a bookmaker In connection with such horse or any other horse in the race for which such horse is entered. Each entry shall contain, or if it does not contain, shall be conclusively assumed to contain, such an undertaking, breach whereof shall be deemed to be a corrupt practice within the meaning of Rule 333 hereof.
