! BREAKING-UP CEREMONY
TEACHER FARFAVELLED
i (Herald Correspondent.) The annual breaking up ceremony at the Bartietls School took place a few days ago. Certificates were presented to the pupils of Form ll.—Barbara King, dux. Eileen Ehau, Chrissie Matenga, Pauline Bell, Florence Wesclie. Pat Lahood. Eric Tee, runner-up for dux, and Alan Green.
Trophies were presented to the tennis tournament winners bv Mrs. E. Smith. . .
Congratulations were extended by the headmaster to all Who were receiving trophies and certificates, as well ns the runners-up in the tennis tournament.
Numerous bo iquets were received by /Miss K. M. Moran, from the children on the last occasion of her being at the school. The headmaster made a presentation on behalf of the staff am* pupils, expressing the desire of them all that Miss Moran’s future would be bright and successful and that .she would carry awav many happy memories of Bartletts. - He also extended best wishes on behalf of the school committee. Miss Moran suitably replied. The following programme was made up and presented entirely by the children in a most creditable manner.
The concert commenced with a community sing by the whole school Otner items were; Prose, Mollv Greensong: Mick Tee and Ron Ellis; tap dance: Freda Ellis; recitation, Patty Heikell and Marcy Murphv; song: Tussie Wilson, Fing Te Hau and Sunny Ehau; recitation: Barbara King; tap dance: Rosemary (MeCcach; songs, senior girls.
School Tennis Tournament
The school tennis tournament concluded after a keenly contested series of games, there being 27 entries, which was very creditable as the game was introduced into the school ( nly last season by the present headmaster, Mr. Ching. Mrs. E. A. Smith has done good work m coaching the pupils to such a standard.
The finalists were:—Girls’ Singles: F.jlcen Ehau; runner-up, Mercia Fouhy. Boys’ Singles: Robin Ching; runner-up, Berate Hcwson. Girls' Doubles; Eileen Ehau and Mercia Fouhy; runners-up, Pauline Bell and Chrissie Matenga. Boys’ Doubles: Brian Walters and Robin Ching; run-ners-up, Eric Tee and Ray Vuksich.
