BEEF VALUES FIRM LAMB RATES HOLD WESTFIELD PRICES (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Firm late rates were made for all classes of beef at the Westfield Christmas market. Extra choice ox beef made 37s per 1001 b., choice and prime 34s to 365; choice and prime cow and heifer beef, 33s to 355, secondary and plain 26s to 325. Extra heavy prime steers made £l4 to £l4 12s Gd, heavy £l3 to £l3 15s, medium £l2 to £l2 17s 6d, light £lO 10s ,4 o £ll 15s, unfinished £6 17s Gd to £10; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £9 10s to £lO 17s Gd, heavy £7 to £9 ss, medium £5 15s to £7 17s Gd, light £4 15s to £5 10s.

Competition for an average calf entry was limited to prime sorts, which held to late rates. Plain sorts eased. Runners made £3 5s to £ll 12s 6d: heavy vealers £5 5s to £6 10s, medium £4 4s to £4 it7s, light £3 5s to £3 16s, small £2 10s to £3 3s, smaller 20s to 465, bobby and rough 5s to 30s.

Pork Improvement Pork values tended to show an improvement, baconers remaining firm at ruling levels. There was a full average entry. Choppers made 59s to 80s; heavy baconers 785.t0 85s, medium 72s to 765, light 66s to 70s; heavy porkers 56s to 655, medium 50s to 565, Light 45s to 51s, small 35s to 445; stores 30s to 375, slips 24s to 295, weaners 14s to 235. Baconers averaged Gd to 6.id per lb.

Mutton comprised a full average offering, which sold at late rates. Extra heavy prime wethers made 26s to 275,' heavy 24s to 25s 9d, medium 20s to 245, light 18s 6d to 20s 9d, unfinished 14s Gd to 19s Gd; prime maiden ewes 20s to 23s 6d, heavy ewes 19s 'to 21s Gd, medium 16s to 18s 9d, light 9s to 15s, unfinished 3s to 8s 9d.

The heaviest lamb entry for five years sold readily at late rates. Prime sorts made 20s to 295, others 14s to 18s Gd.
