BROKEN IN TWO
WRECKED WAIKOUAITI SEA BETWEEN (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day. The Waikouaiti, which ran on the rocks at Dog Island in a thick fog on the evening of November 28 has now broken in two.
A crack forward of the bridge developed in the last few days although the weather has been fairly calm and when salvage of the cargo was resumed yesterday, it was discovered that the ship was in two parts with the sea washing in between. It seems, however, that the stern section will not slip into deep water for a time unless rough weather blows up from the west.
