CAPTURED BY BRITISH

NAZI MERCHANT SHIP ■1 SECOND BOAT SCUTTLED (Reed. Dec. 16, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 15. A Santiago message says that it is officially stated that the German liner Dusseldorf was captured but not sunk. She carried foodstuffs and 700 tons of oil. Another message says that a British cruiser was reported to have sunk the Dusseldorf off Caldera. According to an agency report from Capetown, the 2989-ton Hamburg steamer Adolf Leonardt was intercepted by a British warship, but was scuttled to avoid capture. The warship landed 40 members of the crew at Capetown to-day.
