FAIRBANKS' FUNERAL

THOUSANDS ATTEND ROPED-OFF AREA (Reed. Dec. 18, 9 a.m.) HOLLYWOOD, Dec. IG. Five thousand women and children stood in a roped-off area at the funeral of the cinema actor-Douglas Fairbanks, senior. Charlie Chaplin was a pallbearer. Tom Mix wore a black cowboy outfit. The casket was placed alongside that containing the remains of Will Rogers in a temporary vault. Fairbanks, junior, escorted the widow, who collapsed. Mary Bickford, the former wife of Douglas Fairbanks, did not attend. She said she preferred to remember her former husband as the lively spirit she knew in life.
