OBITUARY

MR. SYDNEY J. OLD

OLD GISBORNE RESIDENT

The death occurred yesterday in the Cook Hospital of Mr. Sydney James Old, aged 75, who had been a resident of Gisborne Cor many years.

The deceased was employed for several years by the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Frozen meat and Mercantile Company Limited, and later by the Gisborne Refrigerating Company, Limited. When Mr. Old's health began to fail four years ago he retired from work, and a year later his wife died.

One son and four daughters are left to mourn their loss, Mr. S. Old, Auckland, and Mesdames Benson. Kelly. Murray, and Swarbrick. all of Gisborne.

The funeral will leave the residence of Mr. H. Burton, MLS Whi'aker street, at 2.45 pan. to-morrow, after n short service, for the Tamhcru cemetery.

DEATH IN LONDON Private cable advice has been received from London announcing the death of Mr. L. G. Sloan, managingdirector of the large British firm of L. G. Sloan. Limited. He visited New Zealand in 1928, making many friends in business and political circles. In London ho was a prominent member of the Chamber of Commerce and of Rotary,
