RALLY SERVICE
YOUNG PEOPLE GATHER MR. USMAR FAREWELLED The Saturday Night Young People’s meeting held it.s final rally of the year in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Derby street, on Saturday evening. Mr. J. Stevens was in the chair and there was a good attendance. Pastor L R. Usmar was the speaker for the evening and his subject ■Thankfulness,” his remarks being based on the text, "Bless the Lord, O My Soul, and forget not all His benefits," from Psalm 1 08, verse two.
Mr. H. Hamilton read the Scripture lesson.. Community singing' was led by Mr. D. HeiTcrnan, a student at the New Zealand Bible Training Institute. and Mr. \V. Heyworth, while a vocal trio was presented by Misses Mavis Orr, Rene Stephens and Hilda Ritchie. The accompaniments were played by Misses Thelma Harvey. Reno Stephens and Muriel Hiller
The recrela ’v, 'Mr. M. Frounfoot, announced that there was a small surplus of funds and it was agreed to donate this to Maori mission work.
An excellent supper was served at tljb close arid an opportunity wa: taken to farewell Pastor Usmar, who leaves Gisborne in. February for Wellington to take up the position of general secretary for the Associated Churches of Christ. On behalf of the jmmg people. Mr. ,f. Stephens presented Mr, Usmar with a propelling pencil and expressed appreciation o' the interest shown by him in tly movement.
