“A CHRISTMAS CAROL”

SUNDAY SCHOOL EFFORT KNOX CHURCH FUNCTION The presentation of a play based on Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol” was the main attraction at an end of the year function held in Knox Church, Mangapapa, by members of the Sunday School on Thursday evening. The characters were taken by 'lie teachers and some of the pupils. There was a good attendance of parents and friends. At the start of the evening a Christmas carol, “Christmas Awake,” was sung, and the play concluded with the carol ■’Nowell.”

At the conclusion of the play, (he Rev. H. A. Gould congratulated the performers on.the entertainment,, ana thanked the superintendent, Mr. J. B. Waugh, and stall' for their work among the children. Mr. Gould was handed a message from Santa Claus apologising for his absence. Assisted by Miss Gordon, Mr. Gould handed parcels to the children. In the afternoon members of the cradle roll and their mothers were entertained. Mrs. If. A. Gould, on behalf of those present, expressed appreciation of the efforts of Misses Gordon and Orr for an enjoyable afternoon tea. The babies were each presented with a parcel.
