“The Messiah"

Sir,—lt is good to . know that “Musicus" and other lovers of music appreciated the work of the conductor, soloists, organist and chorus at the performance of “The Messiah" at S*. Andrew's Presbyterian Church last Tuesday evening. The committee responsible for the production were representative of the following organisations:—Gisborne Choral Society, Anglican Church Choir, Baptist Church Choir, Methodist Church Choir and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Choir, and it is, in my opinion, largely due to their work in maintaining full practices of the chorus—a difficult matter in Gisborne—that much of the undoubted success was achieved.

The matter of obtaining the services of an orchestra was considered, but for various reasons was abandoned. I have in my possession all the names and addresses of members of the chorus, and any help I can give to any responsible party in connection with the celebrations for the approaching centennial will be gladly rendered. J. D. HUTCHIK lion. Secretary, “Messiah” Combined Choir.
