ROYAL SHOW STOCK FURTHER AWARDS CHAMPIONS' RIBBONS BIG SOUTHLAND CROWD (Pnr Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day. One ol the biggest crowds ever gathered at Invercargill ensured the success of the second day of the Royal Show yesterday. The main event of the day was the official opening by the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Galway. Among other prominent visitors were the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, and the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb. The judging of the horses was commenced in the morning, but classes were so big that the work was not completed by dark. The grand parade of prize-winning stock was most impressive and gave a good indication of the extremely high quality of the stock exhibited. Additional royal championships awarded yesterday were:— Sheep Romney Marsh: Ram, D. Robertson (Waikoikoi); reserve, Peter Campbell (Wyndham); ewe, D. Robertson; reserve, R. Robertson. Ryeland: Ram, W. O. Rennie (Doyleston); reserve, W. O. Rennie; ewe, John Brooks (Irwell); reserve, H. C. B. Withell (Ealing). Horses Working draughts: Champion, L. Macdonald’s (Mataura) Sandy; reserve, L. Robertson and Sons (Waikoikoi). Hackneys and ponies: Hackney stallion, T. Carruthers’ (Middlemarch) Gamrhiw; pony stallion, E. L. Mosley's (Mosgiel) Pride: pony, 13.2 hands and over 13 hands, Patricia Pottinger's (Invercargill) Bianca; reserve, Edith Irwin’s (Wyndham) Bluebell; cob, Joan Horn’s (Fcrndale) Wafrigall; reserve, A. R. Johnston’s (Waikaka Valley), Lady Jean; thoroughbred stallion, Chisholm’s (Otautau) Siegfried; mare, Mrs. A. Oliver’s (Line Bush), Silken Lady; trotters and pacers, trotting stallion, Todd Bros’ (Mataura) Arion Axworlhy; pacing stallion, J. G’Shannessy’s (Otapiri) Nelson Pointer; Saddle horses, champion. Miss C. Hudson's (Dunedin) Grey Scot; reserve ,Mrs. J. H. Griggs’ (Ashburton) Haldon.
