£165,071 CHEQUE
FIRST APPRAISEMENT DISTRICT WOOL CLIPS THIS WEEK'S PAYMENTS NEXT VALUATION DATE Payments on the Gisborne and East Coast wool clips submitted for the first appraisement under war-time conditions last month were made this week, and for nearly 10,000 bales a total of £105,071 10s 9d has been distributed. The following are the total payments made on wool valued at the three appraisement centres in the district:—
The above payment represents only 95 per cent of the total, the remainder being held by the Government for future dispersal. The Gisborne cheques were made available on Monday and those for wool valued at the Coast centres were paid out to-day. With an offering of nearly 10,000 bales, the average price per bale works out on the above figures at about £l7, compared with £l4 15s at the first Napier sale last year and £22 during the commandeer of 1916-20. The next wool appraisement in Gisborne is expected to be held about the middle of January. The Gisborne Woolbrokers’ Association is awaiting information regarding the definite date.
Advice has been received by the Hawke’s Bay Woolbrokers’ Association that the second wool appraisal in Napier will commence on Wednesday, January 10, ‘while the date of commencement of the third Napier appraisal is set down as Wednesday, February 14. These dates closely approximate those fixed prior to the outbreak of hostilities for the second and third wool sales.
