MAN FOUND DEAD

A former well-known footballer, William Harry Ross, aged 39, was found dead on a shelf half-way down a gully at Irishtown, Thames. He had a bullet wound in the right temple and a .22 rifle was lying beside the body. Mr. Ross, in the course of his Rugby career, played halfback for the New Zealand University team on a tour of Australia in 1922.
