WAIKATO WASTE LANDS

A decision to bring to the notice of the Government the vast amount of waste land between Pitkekohe and Rotorua in view of the proposal tc bring in more land for production purposes was made by the South Auckland Association of the Country Chambers of Commerce at its conference in Hamilton. Mr. D. Leach, of Paeroa. remarked that it should be borne in mind that a number of farms had not yet reached their peak in production owing lo the owners’ lack of finance. In order to increase production, it would be quicker to make finance available than to break in waste land.
