INCREASED TAXATION BRITISH GRANT REDUCED (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY. Dec. 7. A tribute was paid in the House of Commons to Newfoundland’s patriotism by IMr. iAnthony 'Eden, the Dominions’ Secretary, when he revealed that, besides active recruitment for the navy and army, Newfoundland was also making a financial contribution in the form of an increase in taxation framed to fall on those best able to bear it. whereby the assistance required from the United Kingdom by a grant-in-aid is reduced.
