JOTTINGS FROM TRACK AND STABLE
SIRES SUCCESS FOXBRIDGE’S PROGENY FIFTEEN WINNERS HORSES FOR WOODVILLE By “Tre-nton” Progeny of the Engiish-brecl stallion Foxbridge are racing very prominently, and. as the oldest are only his record of 15 winners and 17 place-getters in the four months of the current racing season is highly creditable. The Foxbridge winners this season, with the exception of the two-year-old Lou Rosa, who scored brilliantly in the Tamahrrc Stakes at Te Rapa, are clnee-year-olds, 10 of whom have been successful. They are Foxmond (three
wins), Proud Fox and Noble Fox (two wins each), Foxtoon, Foxsen, Cornish, Gay Fox, Greek Queen, Lady Fo < and Mountain Fox.
Several of these raced as two-year-olds, and three, Foxmond, Greek Queen and Noble Fox, were successful. Foxmond scored in the Ruakura Stakes at Te Rapa, and was placed on five other occasions. Greek Queen won the Rennie Stakes at Rotorua and also gained two minor placings, and Noble Fox was successful in the Electric Juvenile Handicap at New Plymouth, and was second to the three-year-old Corato in the Juvenile Handicap. Mountain Fox was placed three times. Lady Fox twice and Foxtoon and Foxsen once each.
Foxmond. the most successful of the Foxbridge offspring to date, is from the well - performed Volimond, by Limond from Tivoli, by Absurd, from Roscommon. She is owned by Mr. P. A. Sweeney, who also owns Foxtoon, whose dam. Marietoon, is by Musketoon from Mangamaire, by Marble Arch, from Waiorongomai, by Hotchkiss. Volifox, a promising two-year-old in the same stable, is a fullsister to Foxmond First Day Only Kathbella is to race on the first day at Woodville. She galloped half a mile under restraint in 52 2-ssec. at Hastings on Tuesday. After Woodville, Kathbella will accompany Brunhild and Beaulivre to Auckland. Trentham Team Siegmund will be on hand to contest the big race at Woodville on Saturday. Other Trentham-trained horses will be Trench Law, Galtecmore and Pharisee.
The Top-weight
Although the Railway Handicap candidate. Suleiman, has been awarded 9.6, he must be given an excellent chance, as he has demonstrated that he can carry weight. However, the history of the race does not favour those with 9.0 and over. Then again, very few horses have been awarded 9.0 or over, compared with those weighted below 9.0. The last horse to succeed with over 9.0 was Jonathan, who carried 9.12 to victory four years ago. Ten years previously Reremoana won one of the divisions of the 1925 race under 9.7. Only three other horses have been winners among such weights. Silver Link, 9.0, in 1921, Hohoro, 9.6. in 1903. and The Workman, who dead-heated with The Dancer under 9.8 in 1894. Twelve months ago Stretto was fourth under 9.7.

Broughton, who rode five winners at Feilding and brought his total to 19, is rapidly closing up. The following is tire list of the most successful jockeys at this stage: — H. N. Wiggins 26 P.
