CHAMPION ATHLETE

VISIT OF AUSTRALIAN H.8.-P.B. CENTRE Permission for , the Hawke’s BayPoverty Bay centre to have, the serfvices of S.’ Stenner, the Australian sprint-hurdles champion, if he is available in the new year, was granted by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association at its monthly meeting in Wellington this week. The centre advised that it was suggested that Stenner should visit the district early in January, and that his services should be used principally for coaching. With this end in view, a tour of three weeks’ duration would be arranged. “In deciding to obtain a visit from Stenner," the letter added, “the executive wishes it to be clearly understood that it does not wish to interfere with any plans that the association mav have in view for a visit to New Zealand by prominent Australian athletes.” It was stated at the meeting that Stenner would be' available for a New Zealand visit in January only, and that the granting of the centre’s request would not affect the proposed Australian tour. If he came to the Dominion he would .probably make an appearance irr Wellington.
